South Africa. The King Shaka International Airport in Durban, South Africa, which entered operations on may 1, 2010, used a new technology of abrasion-resistant powder additives, in the 12,000 liters of coating used on steel facades and roofs. This additive is a polyamide 12 called Vestosint, which has elastic properties that absorb impacts on the coating without cracking, and its fine powder consistency manages to repel dust, which represents a benefit for outdoor application. In addition, the additive does not contain mattifying agents that decrease elasticity or resistance to climate.
This technology is developed by Evonik Industries, a German industrial group with offices in more than 100 countries around the world.
