Dow Chemical announced that SCG-DOW Group, a company created between Dow and The Siam Cement Group (SCG), has made significant investments related to the acquisition of hydrogen peroxide-to-propylene oxide (HPPO) conversion technology, which will be built in Thailand, in the industrial state of Asia (IEA), near the industrial port Map Ta Phut.The company has acquired all the necessary equipment and has entered the construction phase of the PO, propylene oxide plant, which should start operating in the first half of 2011.
The HPPO conversion technology, which will use this silver, has been developed by Dow and Basf, which will have a plate capacity of 390 kilotons per year (KTA).
In this area there will also be a plant specialized in elastomers and a hydrogen peroxide plant built jointly by Dow and Solvay.
The new plant will allow to face the demand for PO and its derivatives, which increase due to orders from industries where they are used such as appliances, coatings, construction, adhesives and sealants. (In the photo: Map Ta Phut)
