China. Dupont opened a new laboratory in China aimed at research and development of coatings with better environmental performance among car manufacturers. The technical center, located in Shanghai, allows DuPont scientists to respond to the needs of local customers quickly and efficiently.GM's China subsidiary, Shanghai General Motors, will use DuPont's water-based coatings at its plant, where it has a production capacity of 150,000 cars per year. B.C. Chong, vice president and general manager of DuPont Automotive OEM Coatings, noted that the coatings they have introduced in China "will have good performance, excellent appearance and help reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds."
