Colombia. With the intention of strengthening the technical base of those who are starting their journey in the coatings industry, the Association of Andean Coatings Technicians (STAR) announced the new edition of the Paint Course for Dummies, an intensive day designed to provide fundamental knowledge about paints, formulation, color, quality control and after-sales service.
The event will be held next Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the Country Club Ejecutivos de Medellín, with a program that ranges from conceptual aspects to practical applications. As reported by STAR, the course is aimed at administrative, commercial, technical and engineering personnel who wish to acquire a basic and structured understanding of the world of industrial and architectural paints.
"We seek to provide attendees with an academic introduction to the basic fundamentals, covering their definition, types, components, production processes and properties," the association said in the official launch statement.
A day of technical learning with a practical approach
The course will be developed in sessions led by three engineers with extensive experience in the industry: Jhon Jairo Zuluaga T., Gabriel González R. and Óscar Guarín Guinge. Each of them will be in charge of specific modules in which seven main thematic axes will be addressed:
Definition and types of coatings
Critical paint components: resins, fillers, solvents, additives, thickeners, and pigments
Color and tintometry
Paint formulation and design
Quality of the finished product
Packaging & Packaging
Quality assurance and after-sales service
According to STAR, each module combines theory and applied examples, including test methods, process control, and performance variables, so that attendees can apply the knowledge in their daily work, both in technical and commercial areas.
Training that promotes professionalization
The organizing association stressed that this type of initiative responds to a growing need in the sector: to expand technical knowledge beyond laboratories or production plants, including those who perform functions in sales, logistics, customer service or technical support.
"The course represents a commitment to the democratization of knowledge at all levels of the paint industry," added STAR.
In addition to the academic content, participants will receive a kit with an agenda, pen and digital memories, as well as a diploma of participation. Special early bird rates and discounts for business groups are also available.
