Dunmore announces that it has invested in upgrades to its groove die coating manufacturing capabilities. The manufacturing upgrade has been completed and testing is now underway for new projects.
The new grooved die upgrade will allow Dunmore to produce coated materials for new applications.
It will be used for current products that have accurate specifications, improving process repeatability and reducing defects.
Dunmore specializes in the production of functional films using its core coating capabilities. The main method of adding functional coatings is gravure coating machines.
While the gravure coating method offers many benefits, Dunmore made the strategic decision to make significant improvements to its groove die coating capabilities, thereby enhancing its range of services.
With the upgrade complete, Dunmore can now coat a wider variety of chemicals.
The groove coater can process solvent-based and water-based chemicals ranging from water-like viscosity to chemicals up to 10,000 centipoises.

The coating thickness range for the groove matrix coater is from 2 microns to 50 grams/square meter. These new coating capabilities will enable Dunmore to produce optical-grade materials and mold films.
