International. Through a live webinar on November 16, the global producer of industrial coating resins will unveil Acure, a newly developed and patented isocyanate-free resin chemistry based on Michael Addition.
Allnex experts will present the current Acure toolbox and demonstrate that this technology delivers superior performance in a variety of application fields.
In addition, they will provide several examples and guidelines for successfully formulating Acure; for example, ACE, marine and protection applications, general industry, flooring and wood.
Previously, Michael Addition's reaction has been too quick and difficult to control for practical use in coatings.
Allnex has developed and patented a new technology that harnesses Acure speed through the use of a unique CO2-locked catalyst and kinetic control additives that give the paint formulator the tools needed to use Acure in different fields of application and conditions.
State-of-the-art 2K technology offers significant sustainability advantages and energy-saving potential, as it is an isocyanate-free, low-VOC system that can be applied and cured at room temperature without the need for tin catalysts in paint formulation.
The polyester-based resin chemistry also allows for easy introduction of various renewable raw materials, while maintaining excellent coating performance.
Since its introduction, Acure's range of applications has expanded rapidly, triggering the development of new binders, catalysts and formulations with acryloyl and malonate functions.
Significant progress was made in adhesion robustness, appearance, VOC reduction, and overall performance profile adjustability.
In addition, layer systems were developed, combining this Michael Addition technology with a range of ideal primer and sealant systems.
