Panama. Axalta Coating Systems won a four-year contract to provide industrial coatings and paints for buildings that will be used in the restoration and maintenance of different buildings and locks of the Panama Canal.
"The Panama Canal is one of the most important engineering jobs in history, an iconic engineering achievement," said Alfredo Villalobos, Latin America's industrial director of coatings. "The canal will now be renewed with some of the most advanced industrial coating products in the world, and will extend the productive life of the Canal Zone as a key asset in international trade."
Axalta's Renzel and Galvox architectural paintings will be used on the walls and ornaments. The floors will be protected with Corlar and Imron Industril cladding products. The galvanized interior and exterior and other metal surfaces, including the current channel locks, will be coated with Ganici Speedtec and Galvox, which are specially designed to reduce their application time due to their ability to be applied directly to the metal and are used on long-lasting, high-strength substrates, such as sea surfaces exposed to water.
