Mexico. With the sale of 19,000 liters of vinyl paint made in the East Men's Preventive Prison, the Undersecretariat of the Penitentiary System of the Federal District launched the Reinserta trademark that will offer different products made in the Detention Centers of the capital to the general public.
Ten inmates work in the plant who were previously trained for their operation from the reception of raw material to the packaging and storage of the product.
The plant has the capacity to produce 300 liters of paint per day and it is expected that with the income four more plants can be installed, which would be located in the North and South Men's Preventive Prisons, in the DF Penitentiary and in the Santa Martha Women's Center for Social Reintegration.
The Undersecretary of penitentiary system of the Federal District, Hazael Ruíz Ortega, explained that the first delivery of paint has already been made to the General Directorate of Urban Services of the Government of the Federal District with whom a first contract was signed for the sale of the painting.
"The objective is that the work of the inmates is better paid off and leaves them greater profits; that is why we are looking for this mechanism that will allow us to obtain customers who acquire the products of the Reinserta brand.
"We also seek to open workspaces for more inmates whenever the demand for Reinserta products increases, which for now is painting but which we intend to extend to others such as box bread or pastries, furniture and bottled water," said Ruíz Ortega.
The Reinserta trademark belongs to the Undersecretariat, was registered with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property and was created with the purpose of being able to carry out a self-sustaining activity that generates income that will be used to achieve greater training for work and job opportunities for the inmates of the Penitentiary Centers of the City.
