3M has announced the development of the Design Center, a new facility that will be the central hub for design professionals with multidisciplinary expertise, competitive advantage management, customer experience and positive global impact.
Located at 3M's headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, the 3M Design Center will stimulate creativity in an open multi-level studio environment, four times the size of the current design space. The interior architecture will incorporate the use of 3M solutions and technologies throughout, as well as efficient energy systems and recycled materials.
The venue will feature flexible spaces – including a rapid prototyping lab, library materials, branded labs and an interactive area dubbed "Design Hive" – that foster spontaneous connections and ignite functional collaboration between partners, opinion leaders, customers and colleagues at 3M headquarters, connected to 3M's design studios around the world.
