International. The Dow Chemical Company reported earnings per share of $0.97 or operating profit per share of $0.91. This compares to revenue of $0.73 per share in the prior-year period, or revenue of $0.74 per share on an operating basis – up 23% from the same period a year earlier.
Sales were $12.9 million, up 13% from a year earlier, with declines driven mainly by currency and lower oil prices. Sequentially, sales grew by 4% with gains in all geographic areas. Sales increases were led by Greater China (14%) and the United States (more than 6%).
EBITDA amounted to US$2.4 million, or US$2.5 billion on an operating basis – up us$210 million from the same period last year. Earnings were led by Performance Plastics, Performance Materials & Chemicals and Agricultural Sciences. Performance Plastics' EBITDA represented a new record in the second quarter. Overall, the company achieved a first half of EBITDA of $5.4 million, or a record of $4.9 million on a base of operations.
