Save or not waste? this is what we should think about when we are proposing a strategy to be friendly to the environment and to help mitigate a little the impact of climate change.
Recently we talked about LEED certification, the issue of alternative energies, renewables and how the industry takes advantage of them and is no stranger to it.
I was recently on a trip in a tropical city and I could see how the air conditioning is used throughout the day, everywhere, there is no place where there is no conditioning system. That's when I stopped to think about how much energy is consumed by cooling so many places, and with what kind of energy they do it; I guess by burning fossil fuels or hydropower, which are the most common.
Taking this as a reference, I began to look for data and found that some countries in the region such as Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, among others, worry about finding other types of energy. In Mexico, for example, the International Renewable Energy Expo was held where 20 states of the Aztec nation participated, showing visitors the different novelties of the subject.
But we all know that many of these initiatives do not go beyond studies and good intentions, so that is where professionals, manufacturers and other actors in the industry and even citizens must press for this to be implemented, for this type of energy to be used and for us to take care of what little we have left of this planet.
It is amazing how a 13-year-old is able to propose a model to increase the performance of photovoltaic cells and many of us are left with our hands crossed waiting for someone to do something else.
