Paint industry threatened?

Just as when a father makes the decision to change houses or cities and the children must adapt to other friends, so is happening in Latin America with the regulations and agreements that the different governments are generating.

As you know, since February 2012 the Argentine Government has restricted the entry of imports of different products into the country in order to favor the local industry, seek to increase exports and preserve foreign exchange; however, seeing the situation in broad strokes, it has brought more problems than solutions.

Argentine exports declined in April, especially in the shipment of vehicles to Brazil, this also happened in reverse, despite being the third trading partner of Brazilians. In Chile, exports to the gaucho country also fell, and this decrease has caused some companies to close. The same case occurs in Paraguay, where there have been dismissals due to lack of income from its production to Argentina.

This has generated a clash with some of the neighboring countries, so much so that the industrialists of Chile, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia have requested the different governments restrictive measures to Argentine products.

These rules not only harm international companies but some Argentine industries and companies that require raw materials from abroad for the preparation of their products, and so that they do not run out of these inputs they must adapt to the times of the Advance Affidavit of Import (DJAI), and have enough reserves to work during the period in which the imported goods can reach them for their production.

Under this scenario there are many industries that will be affected and I believe that paints and coatings will not be the exception, because we know that there are chemical inputs for the production of these products that are imported and these obstacles not only delay the production process, but can also affect the cost of the product.

Likewise, the conflicts that are being generated with the countries of the region will cause exports to Argentina to continue to decrease; the paint market covers many spheres and will surely be affected by the low demand and export of some products of which it is a part.
