New powder coating plant installed
Colombia. The multinational Vitracoat announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility located in the city of Medellin, Colombia, which will begin operations next June. This will have a total annual capacity of five million pounds, in its intention to serve the markets of Colombia and South America in general.
The facility is built in a 20,000-square-foot building and is equipped with the latest technology in powder coating processes and control equipment.
On the other hand, the company assured that the main plant, located in Lerma, Mexico, where the general offices are also located, added 5 million pounds of production per year to the previously existing capacity. Currently, the capacity of that plant exceeds 35 million pounds per year.
Additionally, the company reported that in October 2010 it doubled the production capacity of custom colors at the U.S. production plant, located in Elkhart, Indiana.
