Brazil. The performance of sales of real estate paints in the first half of 2024 had an increase of 2.1% compared to the same period of 2023.
According to Abrafati's report, this result reinforces the organization's expectations for the 2.5% growth in 2024 for the paint industry, given that real estate paints represent approximately 75% of the total volume of the sector.
In all regions there was growth during the period, highlighting the Northeast, which had a very positive second quarter. The Central-West and North regions also registered significant percentages of expansion. Even the Southern Region, which suffered the strong impact of the environmental catastrophe of April-May, showed an increase in sales during the semester. The Southeast, which accounts for 50% of the total market, was the region with the lowest percentage increase (1.3%).
The continuation of the trend of taking care of the home, turning it into a place of comfort, refuge and well-being – accentuated since the coronavirus pandemic – is one of the factors that explain this good result, along with the increase in consumer confidence and the lower level of general unemployment. This boosts retail sales, which account for the largest share of real estate paintings marketed in Brazil. In addition, sales for use in new builds are also maintaining a good pace.
