International. Resin specialist ASK Chemicals will present its latest developments for eco-friendly coating solutions at the upcoming European Coatings Show (ECS), to be held from 28 to 30 March in Nuremberg (Germany).
In addition to solutions for traditional paint and coating applications such as wood, corrosion protection and metal coatings, the Hilden-based company will also showcase its Askocat technology to produce controlled release fertilizers (CRF).
For the next generation of water-based wood dyes, the company introduces Necowell FLE 55 R/LR, a next-generation copolymer resin emulsion based on vegetable oils.
According to the company, this product has been developed to support the ambition of formulators to produce more sustainable products.
The new alkyd resin is based on a high level of renewable raw materials and as a bio-based, VOC-free stain blocker binder it is presented as the ideal candidate for formulating efficient and environmentally friendly interior paints.
Another product that ASK Chemicals will present at ECS is Necowell 5110, a rheological modified alkyd resin emulsion based on renewable raw materials.
By developing Necowell 5110, ASK Chemicals is able to significantly improve the fluidity properties of water-based coatings. Its stronger Newtonian flow behavior and long open time combine excellent flow properties with ease of handling, making Necowell 5110 ideal as a binding agent for finishing paints.
With this product, water-based coatings can be formulated that are not inferior to traditional coatings based on solvent-based alkyd resins in terms of gloss and rheological behavior.
