Mexico. Engineer Marcelo Herrera succeeds his colleague Arius Zuñiga.
The National Association of Paint and Ink Manufacturers (Anafapyt) selected engineer Marcelo E. Herrera Díaz as the new president for the period 2023-2024.
"I feel honored and very motivated because the members of the Association decided to ratify my request to contribute directly to the Anafapyt team and all the members, both manufacturers and suppliers, in the necessary projects to continue the path that the previous boards marked for the aggrandizement of our organization," Herrera Díaz said in a welcome letter released by the Association.
It highlights the three principles that it is committed to continue aligning in the Association: normativity, representativeness and sustainability.
Likewise, he points out that a fundamental factor for the correct achievement of these principles is the training and technification of all the personnel working in the associated companies, "so we will continue to strengthen our three institutes and the Technical Committee for Standardization of Paints, Varnishes, Coatings and Inks for printing (Cotennarec) and the projects defined in them. "
On the other hand, he alluded to the importance of rapprochement with government authorities, in addition to the confederations, chambers and associations that have direct influence on the activities of the Association to have a representation at the national and state level.
Finally, he assured that the active participation of the associates "is critical to ensure the success of the objectives we will set and the actions we will carry out. We will continue to motivate them, so that their staff continues and increases their participation in the projects."
End of a period
For his part, the outgoing president of the Association, engineer Arius Zuñiga Lara, thanked all the support received during his period at the head of it.
"The solidarity of each and every one of you has been key to achieving not only more and better alliances, but also to put the name of our organization on high and demonstrate everything we are and have contributed throughout these almost eight decades," Zuñiga Lara said in her own farewell message.
In this he outlined that 2022 was a year of great challenges for the Association, which was overcome "thanks to the fact that we continue to strengthen our ties with various political and business actors, but also because we continue working to stay united and stronger in the face of any adversity".
One of those challenges was the shortage and increase in the price of inputs, "which forced us to look for innovative solutions to continue operating and meet demand."
However, he also highlighted some milestones of last year such as the realization of the seventeenth edition of Latin American Coatings Show (LACS) and Technical Conferences, "which allowed us to show all the innovations of our industry, in addition to highlighting its contributions".
