The American Chemical Society (ACS) Board of Directors selected Albert G. Horvath, treasurer and chief financial officer (CFO) of ACS, as the Society's next chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2023.
Horyath succeeds Thomas Connelly Jr., who is retiring after nearly eight years with ACS.
"I am pleased that an individual with Al Horvath's ability will be the next CEO of ACS," said ACS Chairman Paul W. Jagodzinski.
"His dedication to ACS's mission and core values, coupled with his experience in member and public service organizations, position him well to lead the Society as we move forward."
For his part, Horvath said he was honored to have been selected for this position and thanked the Board for the trust in him.
"I have developed a deep commitment to ACS and look forward to working with our talented team to serve our members, customers and the entire chemical company. Together with our volunteers, I am confident that we will achieve the bold vision of the Society," insisted the new executive director.
