Hence Arkema, a world-class specialty chemicals and advanced materials company based in Colombes, France, has set its sights on Polímeros Especiales, a producer of high-performance water-based resins for a wide range of applications in markets such as architectural and decorative paints, textiles, pressure-sensitive adhesives and construction.
As stated by the multinational in its statement, this planned acquisition is fully in line with Arkema's strategy to expand its coating solutions segment into growth markets and low volatility organic compound solutions.
"Waterborne is one of Arkema's key solvent-free technologies, along with dust, ultraviolet/light-emitting diode/electron beam and high solids systems, the company said.
It includes the words of Manuel García, general manager of Arkema in Mexico: "Thanks to Polímeros Especiales, Arkema will develop new positions in the Mexican market, which is experiencing strong growth. The acquisition will ensure continued strong support to our customers and allow Arkema to expand its product offering locally."

Arkema notes that this project, subject to approval by antitrust authorities, is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2022.
