International. During the DKT/IRC 2021 International Rubber Conference taking place this week in Neuburg (Germany), postponed by COVID-19 restrictions, the German company Hoffmann Mineral presents a portfolio of products focused on the environmental aspect.
The new Tailored Filler Solutions and aktisil Q filler have been developed for environmentally friendly applications in particular in silicone rubber, CO2 reduction and resource conservation in elastomer development.
Tobias Brandmeier, Sales Director of Hoffmann Mineral GmbH, argues that the most promising potential for the domestic product Neuburg Siliceous Earth is represented in the replacement of black carbon.
"Our products ensure lower CO2 input and consumption here, compared to petroleum-based black coal," he says. The Neuburg Siliceous Earth, used as a charge in polymers, free of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) can also prevent the migration of hazardous substances to the greatest extent possible.
The use of fillers such as Aktisil Q reduces harmful substances from the use of a chlorine-free peroxide in silicone rubber. Tailored Filler Solutions weld by dots by using hollow glass spheres to reduce density and weight, which can lead to lower CO2 consumption in mobility applications.
"Our focus on sustainable solutions in the rubber sector, our regional orientation and our strong technical knowledge also help us with respect to current global developments," concludes Brandmeier.
