Colombia. In order to reduce the environmental impact, an alliance was generated between the companies Pintuco, Sinesco, a company specialized in the collection and management of Construction and Demolition Waste (RCD) and Prodenvases, producer of packaging, which will allow the collection and use of plastic containers from Pintuco.
"Currently in our organization, 60% of the plastic packaging we use is made of recycled material. Through the alliance with Sinesco and Prodenvases we will guarantee that the plastic used to make these containers comes from others that our company has already used. Under this scheme, we will be able to carry out what is established in the circular economy process," said José Manuel Gutiérrez, Director of the Supply Chain of Pintuco.
Pintuco will establish a loyalty strategy with its customers, so that they make an effective delivery of the packaging. Sinesco, for its part, will collect this material and take it to its harvesting plant to transform it and sell it to Prodenvases, which will be responsible for manufacturing the plastic containers again, so that Pintuco can use them in its products.
It should be noted that the transformation process carried out by Sinesco to the container consists of processing it, managing to obtain a raw material called pellet, which has special physical and mechanical characteristics, so that Prodenvases can manufacture its product again.
This union seeks that in the future, the recycled plastic containers that Prodenvases makes to Pintuco, can be made with raw material from other plastic containers of the same brand that were already used in the market. In the first year of operation of this alliance, it is expected to collect 10% of the plastic containers that go on the market.
The collection will be done initially in the 10 municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Medellín and in those that make up the East of Antioquia, places where Sinesco has operations.
