International. The Evonik Industries Group announces its new CEO for Central and South America. Since October 1, Elias Nahssen de Lacerda, who was Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Nutrition and Care Business for Central and South America, replaces Weber Porto, who concludes his career of almost 36 years in Evonik and 17 years as president of the region.
Elias Lacerda is Brazilian, is 45 years old and began his professional career at Evonik more than 20 years ago. He has held different positions in several business lines of the group and has extensive knowledge of the company and the specialty chemicals market.
"It is an honor to take the lead in the Central and South American region, one of the Group's growth centers and with significant expansion potential. My challenge is to contribute to regional growth by seeking prosperity for our employees, society and shareholders," says Lacerda.
Elias Lacerda takes on the new challenge very well prepared and with many achievements already accumulated inside and outside Evonik. In 2013, he was awarded the "Best Emerging Manager of the Chemical Industry" by the Handelsblatt and Stratley Award, one of Germany's most important and influential media outlets. At the age of 38, the executive impressed the jury of the award and was honored by the magazine for his outstanding achievements as "Key Account Manager" of the Evonik Group and his integrative leadership profile with a strong customer orientation.
"The experiences gained in Germany, around the world and especially in all the countries of Central and South America will be the basis of the new challenge facing the company's presidency in the region. They have consolidated the fundamentals of my work concept: customer satisfaction, results orientation and passion for people," says Elias Lacerda.
