Colombia. Pintuco joined Camacol's initiative to measure the carbon footprint of the Colombian Construction Congress that took place from August 28 to 30 in Cartagena.
"In this line we join camacol's initiative to measure the carbon footprint of the Colombian Construction Congress 2019, to continue generating awareness about the impact of what we do, because in this way we transform and protect our habitat, doing better and better what we know how to do," said Luis Fernando Villamil, Pintuco Construction Manager.
Some of the actions with which the company has been building the path to sustainability are focused on offering a portfolio of sustainable products, some of which have obtained greenguard Gold certification this year, in addition to having coatings made with recyclable material, product packaging of circular economy processes and paints free of heavy metals and with low VOC content.
Pintuco claims to be the first paint plant in Colombia to have the Carbon Neutral certification for its responsible production and to have eco-efficient facilities.
In addition to this, the company works on talent management through actions that guarantee stability, professional development and the physical and mental health of employees, as well as on the improvement of working conditions and the formalization of painters and master builders in Colombia, through training offered with the Fans Pintuco program. With a total of 68,003 attendees to the different courses, the company has trained more than 12,800 painters and master builders in the last 5 years in the country.
Measuring the Carbon Footprint at The Congress
Within the framework of the congress and during the three days it lasted, Camacol together with Pintuco measured the carbon footprint of the Colombian Construction Congress, for this the CO2 emitted by the operation of the event was calculated, especially in terms of water and electricity consumption, as well as the one that produced the displacement of all the participants: attendees, special guests, speakers, exhibitors, organizers, logistics staff and other actors involved in this event.
According to Camacol, the results of this first measurement will be the basis for setting the goal of reducing its environmental impact in the coming years.
