The new Color Black FW 310 is the brand's darkest jet carbon black available, created for OEM automotive base layers, coatings for finishes and high-end industrial applications that require various solvents.
The product has an aftertreatment and is suitable for both water and solvent coatings, allowing coating producers to purchase a single grade for both systems.
Orion's tests on a water-based one-component polyurethane system and a solvent-based two-component polyurethane system show that Color Black FW 310 has higher jetness (MY) values than the company's previous premium product, Color Black FW 255.
In the systems tested, the reaction capacity increased approximately ten MY points depending on the formulation. Equally important is that it imparts the same bluish hue, around 11.0 dM, as the previous degrees.
