Within the program of guided technical visits of Cubrecol Americas 2011, a tour of the facilities of the Corrosion and Protection Laboratory of the University of Antioquia was carried out, in which attendees were able to learn in detail about the different investigations on atmospheric corrosion that are carried out there.
The visitors learned about the research, advisory and consulting work carried out by the research group with the financing and support of different national and international entities such as the University of Antioquia, Colciencias, Cyted, the European Union and several entities of the productive sector.
During the visit, the members of the Corrosion and Protection Laboratory of the University of Antioquia announced the lines of research they are carrying out, such as issues related to attack mechanisms, individual and combined effect of atmospheric pollutants, mapping of atmospheric corrosivity in areas of regional and national interest, corrosion indoors, in packaging and under transport conditions and laboratory simulations.
Maryory Gómez Botero, who was one of those in charge of guiding the group of visitors, said that the services of the Corrosion and Protection Laboratory of the University of Antioquia are available to the industry. He also stressed that Cubrecol Americas is an excellent showcase to publicize its services.
"The services and studies that we carry out here at the Corrosion and Protection Laboratory of the University of Antioquia are of a public nature and are available to the industry. We provide advice and intervention in prevention, management and control of corrosion; as well as characterization of atmospheres, training, simulation tests, laboratory tests under international standards, among others," Said Gómez.
