The paint industry requires a better organization so that it can grow, be sustainable and competitive and that is achieved through partnership, a method known hundreds of years ago, which allows individuals (in this case, companies) to fight for the same end.
Cases like Abrafati, in Brazil and Anafapyt, in Mexico, deserve to be highlighted. The first, for example, has managed to unite industrialists, representing the entire sector before the Government and the communities. As a result of this exercise, there has been a substantial improvement in the implementation of environmental regulations, relief in the tax burden, state support through inclusion in infrastructure and housing programs, among others.
A separate chapter deserves Sater, the Argentine association that has worked for several years to improve the quality in the training of technicians and engineers linked to the sector, encouraging the dissemination of knowledge, research and development.
I do not think it is a coincidence that these are the nations with the greatest and most constant growth in terms of paints and coatings and that, in the same way, they are the ones that monopolize a large part of the investment mass.
Recently, INPRA LATINA has received some requests for information from people linked to the industry who want to know the composition of specific markets such as Colombia, Peru and Central America. This shows a lack of information, organization and, of course, partnership.
Today we have associations of chemists, but their fields of action far transcend our area of knowledge. In companies, on the other hand, it is correctly identified who is responsible for what work, but when it comes to relating to other companies, the bodies that regulate us, the community or the State, there is a failure of representation.
Think about it: coming together to continue pulling to the same side could represent a good opportunity to ensure healthy competition, seek greater attention in government programs, and gain greater visibility on the continent.
Hopefully this invitation will not fall on deaf ears.
